The title "When the sea turned into oil, we made rainbows." originated from a brainstorm session with the band Blackoutdub. We were looking for a title for the new album. The title never came through, it was 'too hippy sounding'. I always liked it.

These tracks are a collection that were made over a period of 3-4 years from now except for some of the last ones. 'The painter' is actually the first electronic piece of patchwork we made around 2007.
